F1 racing, Toscana GP: New race launched F1

It’s time to say goodbye to Monza, the next destination this September will be Mugello Circuit (Italy), which first appeared in F1 calendar. This will also be the Ferrari’s 1000th race.
Due to the complicated situation of the global COVID-19 pandemic, some races have been canceled this year. Instead of that, the FIA has been trying to fill the race schedule with dual races in Austria, England, Italy and Bahrain, or adding new tracks like the Mugello, where riders will compete this weekend.

Mugello is a race track in Scarperia e San Piero, in the beautiful Tuscany region, northwest of Italy, only 35 km from the historic capital of Florence. At this track, there will usually be a number of international racing events over the years, most notably the MotoGP tournament in the 2-wheel format.
Street racing in Mugello has appeared in races since the 20s of last century. In 1970, racer Spartaco Dini traumatically caused an accident who crashed into a group of Firenzuola villagers, killed a 7-month-old child and injured four others during a private trial.
That incident seriously damaged the reputation of the race, so it was the last time the race was held on streets publicly.
After that, the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello was built in 1973 and opened its doors in 1974. In 1988, Ferrari acquired a new track, 120 km from their headquarters in Maranello, for the purpose of a test track.
During the 2012 season, Mugello was used for the test run. Mugello holds the FIA’s first-class license, proving it to be a qualified F1 race track.

F1 racing adds 4 new races to the 2020 season

On August 25, the organizers of Formula 1 Racing (F1) annouced that they had added four more races in Turkey, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this season.

According to the announcement, 2020 marked the return of the Turkish Grand Prix at the track in Istanbul Park after a 9-year hiatus. Specifically, the Turkish Grand Prix will take place on the 15th of November, followed by two races in Bahrain – including the Bahraini Grand Prix on November 26 and the Grand Prix Sakhir on November 6. The season will end with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race in the UAE, which was scheduled to take place on December 13.
However, the race in Shanghai city (China) will be canceled instead of rescheduling as being previously decided.
Thus, this year’s F1 season will have a total of 17 races.
According to the organizers of the F1 tournament, due to the influence of the dangerous respiratory inflammatory disease COVID-19, the races will limit the audience.
Last month, F1 organizers canceled races in the US, Mexico, Brazil and Canada, but opened three more races in Europe including Portimao (Portugal), Nurburgring (Germany) and Imola (Italy).
Like many other sporting events, due to the COVID-19 translation, the F1 race was postponed just a few hours before the start of the race in Melbourne (Australia) in March. This is the opening race of the competition season this year. However, in July, F1 started two races in Austria and then in Hungary, all being held behind the closed doors without the appearance of spectators.

F1 limited the power of Mercedes

F1 teams will not have the right to utilize a separate engine mode for qualifying rounds since the Belgian race on August 30.
According to Motorsport, General Secretary of the World Motorsport Federation (FIA) – Mr. Peter Bayer – sent letters to inform 10 teams about the new change. The letter states that these teams can only use one internal combustion engine (ICE) mode for both qualifying and main lap. This letter did not comply with any regulations, but the FIA will soon finalize the document and will apply new rules from the Belgian Grand Prix.
According to Article 27.1 of the 2020 season specification, riders must ‘drive alone and without assistance’. Changing the internal combustion engine mode means that the rider may violate the rules above.
Teams are still not sure about how the new rules will affect their practice. If riders are allowed to use only one engine mode in the qualifying and main lap, they will have limited processing power during the race.
Motorsport said the FIA had wanted to limit the power of teams using Mercedes engines, including Mercedes, Racing Point and Williams. The engine mode of these three teams in the qualifying round produces a significantly higher performance in the main lap. Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton usually won the pole with a difference of about a second greater than the racer behind. But in the main race, the average speed of the two Mercedes drivers is not too superior to the competitors. If you can limit the speed of Mercedes in the classification round, the FIA will help the F1 to become more attractive.

Hamilton won easily at Catalunya

Lewis Hamilton outstripped his rival Max Verstappen and teammate Mercedes Valtteri Bottas for the fourth consecutive time in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Verstappen’s hope of recurring the outstanding performance a week ago has soon gone, simply because the W11 was too powerful and didn’t occur the same tire problems like two races at Silverstone. The distance between Hamilton and the following group was continuously widened during the match, then the British driver finished before Verstappen to 24,177 seconds. Except for Red Bull’s racer and Bottas teammate, the rest of the race was surpassed by Hamilton.
At first place at the Spanish Grand Prix on August 16, Hamilton got the 88th victory and was only behind the legendary Michael Schumacher with the distance of exactly three victories. This is also the 156th time British riders have finished in the top 3, just enough to surpass Schumacher’s own record.
As the previous expectation, the air temperature in Catalunya is up to 30 degrees Celsius, causing the surface temperature of the track to be pushed up to 48 degrees Celsius. The race is, therefore, truly physical torture to all the racers. But there was no sign of such an objective condition that would make it difficult for Hamilton. Mercedes President Toto Wolff commented before the race that Verstappen was the most prospective candidate for the first-place position thanks to its impressive speed at long distances. However, the reality is not happening as predicted above.
Starting from the beginning and successfully holding the position, Hamilton always held the leading position for the rest of the race, although in the second half of the race there was constant information about the possible thunderstorms on Catalunya.

F1 Racing: Hungarian GP Hamilton made impressive performance, firstly on the top of the rankings in 2020

There have been not too many challenges for driver Lewis Hamilton – to become the champion of Hungarian GP 2020.. However Mercedes could not have won 1-2 victory because of Valtteri Bottas’ unsuccessful department, which only helped this driver to reach the 3rd place, behind the Max Verstappen of Red Bull.

On Sunday afternoon in Hungaroring, at the time before the race, the weather was not favorable which was rainny. This condition affected the strategy the racing team had planned previously.
If the road were dry, the optimal strategy would be 35-40 rounds of medium tire (Medium), then switch to soft tires (Soft). Another alternative plan was to use Soft tire 2 times in about 45-50 rounds, then use Medium tire to finish the race. But the wet road turned things into different situation, therefore strategy needs being adjusted as quickly as possible.
Alpha Tauri decided to replace all of the Power Units of Piere Gasly, but this driver did not encounter into any punishment because his PU was still within the allowed limit.
The temperature at Hungaroring before the start of the race was 26.5ºC, and the pavement temperature was 20.4ºC.
It’s raining, some strategic problem solving
The riders left the pit lane to get to the starting line with the intermediate (Intermediate) tires running on wet roads. Unfortunately for the Red Bull driver – Max Verstappen, he crashed into a railing after losing control at the 12th corner, resulting in a completely damaged front wing.
It still remained as a puzzle whether the car’s front suspension was a problem or not.

F1 racing, Styrian GP: Challenge repeated after the opening race

On Friday 10/7/2020, the second race of the 2020 season officially takes place at the Red Bull Ring racecourse in Spielberg Austria. This is also the venue where the opening race took place in last weekend with the first victory being offered for the driver Bottas of Mercedes.

Bottas was the first one to gain the first victory after numerous races being held within the Formula 1 race since it was kicked off after months of cancellation due to the global Covid-19 epidemic.
In this second race, the teams will still compete on the Red Bull Ring race like on the first one. This partly allows them to have better set-ups on their own racing cars after a lot of experience in the opening race.

The team that wins most races will need to keep up their good work while the losing one will need to consider a lot of factors to upgrade the car to the maximum racing state.
In fact, during the official race taking place last weekend, there were too many unexpected technical problems being occurred during the performances of many teams. Despite being the winner in the end, the problem of gearbox has affected significantly to both cars of Bottas and Hamilton.
Mercedes engineers warned both of their drivers during the second half of the race not to run too close to the curb in order to avoid the high-speed humps of the Red Bull Ring which could badly affected the gear of W11.

F1 RACE: Styrian GP race: Hamilton made his return impressively

Not only successfully proving his extraordinary ability during the very first beginning rounds, but Lewis Hamilton has also successfully finished the race first when entering the main race. He became the winner of the Styrian GP 2020 championship, which marked an impressive return of the present champion after the unsatisfying beginning race. Valtteri Bottas closed the race with a final 1-2 victory for Mercedes.

On the recent Sunday afternoon, the second race within the Red Bull racetrack took place under a flavorable weather condition which was much better than the previouse Saturday afternoon when the qualifying round took place. The racing field temperature at the time when the race took place was 19ºC while the pavement temperature was 39ºC.

The three-step back penalty on the Leclerc/Ferrari starting line only changed their positions to be outside of the top 10, and the Monaco driver started the 14th. Roman Grosjean had to start his race from the pit-lane after the team had to intervene into this driver’s vehicle after the qualifying round takes place.

Strategically, if choosing to start with a set of soft tires (Soft), the drivers will have some options: about 30 laps then switch to hard tires – or run the first 2stint with Soft in about 50 laps then switch to Medium tire (Medium). If racers choose to use Medium tire when starting, they will experience about 32 turns to Soft tires, or 27 turns to Hard tires.
At the starting line, most racers opt for new Soft tires to start the race. As soon as the race started, Hamilton remained his position at the top, Verstappen found the race quite difficult, however, fortunately maintained the rank 2.
